Understanding Roblox Game Metrics for Acquisitions
Learn what CCU, revenue, retention and playtime can tell you during an acquisition review.

Record the definition before comparing a number
For every metric, save the experience, source, unit, date range and filters. A public snapshot and a private analytics export may measure different things. Roblox dashboard access has eligibility and permission requirements; unavailable data is not a zero.

Concurrent users and audience size
CCU describes players online at a particular moment or over a time series. Label a snapshot, peak and average distinctly. Compare similar weekdays and time windows; events and outages can distort a single reading.
Lifetime visits describe cumulative reach, not current active players or unique buyers. Use them as context rather than evidence of current earnings.
Retention and cohorts
D1 and D7 retention describe return behavior for a cohort of new users after one day and one week. Compare cohorts and allow the full observation window to complete. An incomplete recent cohort cannot be compared fairly with a mature one.

Revenue and monetization
Roblox defines conversion rate as the share of daily active users who pay. ARPPU is average revenue per paying user; ARPDAU uses all daily active users. A high ARPPU with very few payers can be fragile.
Keep the revenue currency and period explicit. Revenue is not profit: review related costs and distinguish reported earnings from funds that can actually be withdrawn.

Playtime and interpretation
Average session time helps explain engagement but does not establish player satisfaction or purchase intent. Read its trend alongside retention, audience size and monetization.
Hypothetical example: session time rises while returning-user retention falls after an event. Investigate the event and cohort mix before claiming that overall audience health improved. No single indicator proves acquisition value.
